Don't let them mess up our borough

We all understand that as a consequence of profligate debt the national books need rebalancing. We're paying for that. But services that people want and pay for through taxation and charges are being cut, often unnecessarily. Community assets from hospitals to public halls and libraries are being closed and funds for our badly-maintained roads cut by half. Politicians' rhetoric is not matched by reality. Election pledges have not been honoured

Sensible decisions

The Elmbridge Residents Group exists to coordinate at Council the Residents' Associations and Independents who want management decisions to be:

• practical, not dogmatic
• genuinely responsive to the wishes of the borough's residents
• flexibly adapted to the locality, not inflexibly imposed
• transparent and properly debated

and not ordered by party bosses in Westminster.

We represent residents - the parent, the commuter, the pensioner, those who live and work here in Elmbridge. We hold twenty of the sixty seats on the Council and we have an excellent track record in administering the Borough from 1992 - 2006.
